Re-birth of the Uruguayan Train

For children in Uruguay trains and spaceships are the same, something far away! They never used one, and only read it in children’s books.‬
‪For this reason its very rewarding to participate in the train redevelopment project in Uruguay and collaborate together with Egis Group in specific areas of the project. ‬
‪In this case we share the design of the pedestrian shelter prototype.
‪The shelter was proposed with solar panels, usb charging points, accessible design and resistant materials to heavy use.‬

‪Brief History : ‬
‪Construction of the first railway line in Uruguay began on April 25, 1867. In 1884 was designed the General Railway Layout, layout of the national railway network, where the radial system was established to Montevideo, dominant city-port. In 1897 Montevideo Central Station was inaugurated. On 31 December 1948, the Uruguayan parliament approved the acquisition of foreign railways, thus collecting some of the 17 million pound debt that the United Kingdom had with Uruguay due to purchases made during World War II. On January 31, 1949, the train was nationalized. ‬
